Lancaster County is a beautiful setting for our cross country team. There is plenty to see running through the rolling hills of Amish country. Veritas fields both a boys and girls junior high cross country team and a boys and girls high school team. Finishing first or last is of less concern to us than the effort our kids invest. How hard we try and how genuinely we love our teammates and our opponents are matters of the heart that we believe are of great concern to God. As our families reinforce these values, we believe positive athletic results typically come along as part of the package. One final item to note: what makes cross country unique at Veritas is that, unlike other sports, the boys and girls are running primarily against public schools. Thus, the aim of our team is to run well and to run in a way that brings honor to Jesus Christ.

2011 was the first year Veritas Academy girls competed in volleyball. Middle school girls played in an intramural program, led by several of our varsity volleyball girls. The varsity team worked on developing their skills and gained experience by playing a limited schedule against other small Christian and private schools. In 2012 Veritas Academy girls competed in the CCAC.The girls program has qualified for district-level playoffs in its history, and we're looking forward to another great season together!

Our grammar school volleyball program gives our 3-6th grade girls the opportunity to learn the basics of volleyball in a fun, introductory way. Each fall the girls get to experience practices for about 5 weeks, followed by a play date with another school where they can put their new skills into practice in a live game situation.
We are so excited to offer soccer this year for our students, and we're looking forward to expanding this program in the coming years. This competitive program will feature 11+ games with other Christian schools, with home games and practices at the field on our school property!

Each year our grammar school students train for what has become a favorite among Veritas traditions, the Great Pumpkin Chase. While we do have a Grammar School Cross Country program that competes with several other Christian schools in the area throughout the fall, The Pumpkin Chase is a special race that all Grammar School students can participate in, whether they are on the team or not! One of our school administrators dresses up like a pumpkin and challenges the students to beat him in a one mile race at a local park. The event offers fun, food, and games for the whole family and brings our community together in a meaningful way that encourages healthy competition, outdoor activity, and a celebration of all things fall. Come catch the pumpkin if you can!
