Preschool

Veritas Preschool and Kindergarten integrates a thematic concept into all academic areas while incorporating a wide variety of engaging and hands-on learning experiences. We use themes to focus on the emergent interests of the children while keeping learning interesting and exciting as children explore using their five senses.  Activities are also discovery-based through student participation in both large and small-group settings, classroom centers, and rotating learning centers. All themes are taught using Biblical principles as the basis for each unit. The preschool is for 3, 4, and pre-K 5-year olds; kindergarten students must be 5 at the start of school. These programs focus on academic and social preparation for the lower school…and for life.

Grammar (Grades 1 - 6)

The key to effectiveness in the grammar school is that students must love what they learn and how they learn. We are “arming” our grammar school students with a “storehouse of knowledge.” With this storehouse of building blocks, students can do great things, especially when coupled with the wisdom that flows from a classical Christian education.

Logic (Grades 7 - 9)

Though it is a formal class, logic is not just a class during these years; it is also a method that is used in every class. In science students learn to use the scientific method to find truth. In math students focus on algebra and geometry, solving for unknowns and testing proofs logically. In Greek and modern languages, they use word endings to decode languages. In music and art they argue what makes a certain piece of music or art good. Learning the art of argumentation prepares middle school students for college and beyond.

Rhetoric (Grades 10 - 12)

A classical Christian education is not content with students whose minds are full of facts and whose reason helps them find truth. Students must learn how to persuasively communicate that truth to influence the world. This training is accomplished during the Rhetoric stage (grades 10-12). In the Rhetoric stage we train students to use words (in writing, speaking, and debating) to communicate the truth they have discovered. Each year builds upon the previous year, with students constantly polishing and perfecting their communication skills. The Rhetoric stage is a time of moving deeper into all subjects.
