As you are searching for gift ideas for First Graders. Here are some that are worth your consideration:

Book:
Paddle to the Sea by Holling C. Holling. I read this aloud to them in October and 1st graders love this book! They would love to read it even after listening to it in class!

Another great choice would be: B is for Betsy by Carolyn Haywood. This book actually is a good choice for boys and girls. It is about a first grade class of friends.

It is also really a good idea to get them a Bible. You can either get an easy reader Bible or one that they can grow into!

Early Reader Bibles (they could read this one on their own)
Child's Story Bible (this is a great one to read to them or for them to grow into)

Hailstones and Halibut Bones by Mary O'Neill. This one is a poetry book about colors that first graders really like.

Fun phonics or math books/workbooks-Grade 1 and/or 2:

Batman Phonics Pack

Clifford Phonics Pack

Star Wars Math Book Grade 1 and Grade 2

Math Made Easy

Or some might like a poetry book:

The Random House Book of Poetry for Children

Here are a few great games for 1st graders:
Rack-O (math number ordering)

jump ropes

One more great idea for 1st graders is:
