Why Classical?

Recover the Joy and Wonder of Learning

"Two weeks after switching [our son] here in 6th grade, we asked if he had any complaints...and he said his big complaint was that we hadn't switched him four years earlier." [Watch full video here]

What would it look like for your child to truly thrive at school?

To bubble with excitement over the history she's learning. To wake up eagerly looking forward to a day with teachers and classmates. To practice his newly-honed logic skills with lively, thoughtful dinner table discussions. To devour literary masterpieces with gusto and a critical, understanding mind.

At each stage of learning, from kindergarten through graduation, the Classical Christian Education model of the Trivium capitalizes on the natural, God-given strengths and propensities of kids as they grow.

Coupled with immersive learning, passionate teachers, fascinating curriculum, and a vibrant community, it all translates into a deeply joyful learning experience.

We welcome you to come see it for yourself!

The Veritas Academy Open House is March 14, where you'll meet teachers and students, explore classrooms, and enjoy a fun morning of activities for kids, too!

What Parents Are Saying

  • "This school has given our children the gift of joy in their learning. From their first day attending (grade 3 and grade 6), we witnessed an enthusiasm and energy for the content they were studying - and the delivery used to share said content. The caring, nurturing environment that Veritas provides allows students to grow, to challenge, to explore and to delight in the topics of study at their disposal. I can’t imagine a better approach to education for my children!"

  • "Our son enjoys school so much, he actually misses it on the weekends."

    - Laura W., Parent of Veritas 8th grader

  • "When we visited the school we were swept off our feet by the enthusiasm we saw in the faculty and staff, and in the demeanor of the classrooms. Veritas made learning look like so much fun! The commitment to helping students develop a thoughtful, Christian world-view was also extremely attractive to us... All of our kids seem to genuinely enjoy school and are learning so many things that will set them up for an enjoyable and successful academic career, as well as help prepare them for authentic living as a believer in an unbelieving world."

Beth K., Parent of three Veritas students (grades 2, 5, and 7)

  • "Nearly every one of my teachers has changed my life, making me love subjects I would otherwise hate and making me love learning in general. Classes were fun, engaging, but also very, very challenging. Our teachers prepared us well for the challenges we will meet in life. I could not have asked for better classmates - we are nearly as close as siblings. When I was younger, the older students always treated the younger students with kindness, respect, and love, and as we got older, we strove to treat the younger kids the same way. All of the staff are kind, joyful people. I was sad to graduate - I would have continued into grades 13 and 14 if they were offered."

RIGOR WITH JOY

This is the kind of deeply satisfying education experience we live for at Veritas.

A joyful learning atmosphere doesn't have to mean simplistic schooling. Having fun in the classroom shouldn't equate a less challenging curriculum. In fact, we believe the opposite is true.

Students find the greatest joy in learning when they have the opportunity to soak in greater knowledge, to tackle tough problems, to engage in studies that call them to stretch their capacities and grow in understanding. That's why, even though the "fun" and "joyful" atmosphere is so often cited in parents' and students' description of our school, Veritas still boasts impressive SAT scores (1258 average, 150 points higher than state average and among the highest in Lancaster County) and consistently sends graduates to competitive, first-choice college programs. 100% of our 2020 graduating class are going on to the four year college of their choice.

Yes, we may have established a sort of reputation of rigor, but don't mistake that for drudgery and dryness. As one alumni said at a recent event, "When I was in college, I would hear classmates complaining about high school and I would just want to tell them 'Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry for you! I loved high school so much!' I would go back if I could!"
